«Я твой товарищ на земле, сражайся за меня!»: принцип взаимности в древнеегипетских «письмах мертвым» конца III – начала II тысячелетия до н. э.

Хотя мировоззренческие основания взаимопомощи внутри древнеегипетских малых социальных групп (семья, соседи и т. д.) в основном понятны, письменных источников, раскрывающих такие обычаи и практики времени Старого и Среднего царств, выявлено крайне мало. Отчасти восполнить этот пробел позволяют «письма мертвым» – просьбы о помощи, адресованные покойным родственникам, нередко перечисляющие взаимные обязательства живого «отправителя» и усопшего «получателя». Письма предполагают, что живые и усопшие родственники были и остаются прочно включенными в социальные сети взаимопомощи. При этом важна  не столько строго фиксированная по размеру и срокам «отдача» полученной помощи, сколько уверенность  в том, что однажды получивший поддержку не преминет в свою очередь прийти на помощь своему «благодетелю», если с тем случится беда.
